World breeding championships tour
Teagasc has announced it will run an equestrian education tour to the FEI World Breeding Jumping Championships in Lanaken, Belgium, in September.
Organiser Wendy Conlon described the tour as a unique opportunity for breeders who aim to produce for the showjumping market.
This event is long-established as the shop window for up-and-coming champions, and for the many breeding organisations who annually compare their merit throughout four days of tough competition.
"The young horse championships provide a platform for the best young horses from across Europe, therefore enabling breeders and producers to see multiple progeny of many sires while also assessing the attributes of these horses," she said.
"Breeders will return home with an excellent appreciation for the demands of this market and what they must aspire to."
The proposed itinerary for this four-day tour includes stud farm visits and entrance to the jumping championships.
Priced at €499 per person, the trip will depart from Dublin on September 27 and return on September 30.
The price may vary slightly depending on flight prices and the number of people travelling at the time of booking.
