Wicklow farm could make a million plus

Ken Whelan

An 88ac top quality Co Wicklow farm, with conversion potential to a variety of farm enterprises, has been placed on the market for sale by private treaty with a guide price of €1.15m by Blessington-based auctioneers J P and M Doyle.

Located in one of the most beautiful parts of east Wicklow at Ballyknockan Upper, near Aughrim and Rathdrum, the farm comes with a two-storey period residence, stables, courtyard and numerous farm buildings.

Although sheep farming is currently the main enterprise at the farm, the property could be easily converted to tillage or beef, according to auctioneer Paul Doyle.

The three-bedroom farmhouse is in need of modernisation. It comprises ground floor halls, sitting room, kitchen, dining room, store and a utility room which looks out onto a stone courtyard with a coach house, stables, calf and cow house and lofted stories.

The yard consists of a five-bay hayshed, a six-span shed with two six-span lean-tos.

The land is all set in grass and has extensive road frontage.
