Close to €10,000/ac was paid at auction last week for grazing ground in Wicklow.

The 52ac of grazing land located at Kinsellastown, Dunlavin, near Hollywood was brought to auction by Leinster Marts, Kilcullen with a guide of €9,000/ac. The holding sold in two lots for a total price of €508,000.

The non-residential farm is laid out in four fields with the land described by John Osborne, of Leinster Marts, as good grazing ground, typical of the area.

The interest in the property was mainly local and all the bidders were from the area.

Proceedings began with the sale of 32ac – a parcel in three fields with good road frontage.

Three bidders competed for the holding but it was withdrawn at €300,000. It sold immediately afterwards for €312,000 to the woman who opened the bidding, a local farmer.

The second lot comprising 19.8ac in one block opened at €140,000 and drew the attention of three bidders from the area.

The property was put on the market at €172,000 and sold to a local man for €196,000.
