Tyrone farmer cream of crop at Lakeland Supreme Milk Awards

Tyrone farmer John Marshall of Rylands, Omagh, was crowned winner of the Lakeland Dairies Supreme Quality Milk Awards last week.

Mr Marshall, who farms with his son Richard, also took the Northern Ireland Milk Quality Award.

At the awards ceremony, which was attended by the Minister for Agriculture, Simon Coveney, Lakelands chief executive Michael Hanley said the awards publicly recognised the achievements of the co-op's milk suppliers who were committed to efficiency and quality in all aspects of their milk production.

Among the other winners were Killian Brennan, Kilcogy Upper, Co Longford, who won the 0-400,000l milk production category. The runner-up was Derek Cranston and his son Clifford, Cormeen, Mullagh, Co Cavan. In the 400,000+ litres milk production category, the winning honours went to William Nicholson, Drumacrib, Castleblayney, Co Monaghan and the runner-up was Tadhg Sweeney, Kilcormack, Birr, Co Offaly.
