The IFA has ended its protest in the lobby of the Department of Agriculture offices on Kildare St.

The move has been welcomed by the Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed, after the occupation of his Department’s Headquarters in Dublin.

The Minister confirmed that he had secured approval from the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform for the outline of a €1.5m Crop Loss Measure and was committed to the introduction of this measure at the earliest possible time.

The Minister confirmed his willingness to discuss the detail with a view to ensuring this support is  best targeted at those most impacted and will facilitate a meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.

Members of the IFA had occupied the lobby of the Department for seven days in protest over an upper limit of €5,000 being placed on the scheme compensation.
