One of the larger farms to come for sale in Carlow is to be auctioned later in the month of May. Located at Constable Hill, Hacketstown in Co Carlow, the 98.5ac residential farm comes to auction with a guide price of €5,500/ac.

Clive Kavanagh of Jordan Auctioneers expects strong local interest in this piece of ground for sale on behalf of the representatives of the Estate of Rowland Sheil (deceased).

The property is located approximately 3km from Hacketstown just off the R727 to Carlow.

The surrounding area is dominated by good agricultural land with many substantial farms and well-maintained holdings in the immediate vicinity.

According to Mr Kavanagh, the land is renowned for its fattening qualities and, with its limestone base, would make an ideal self-contained holding.

At the centre of the property is an old-world, limestone yard with a residence in need of modernisation.

The house and yard are approached via a concrete driveway and occupy a lovely elevated setting overlooking the land.

The lands are regular in shape and laid out in a number of divisions all in grass with frontage on to the local road.
