Six set for All-Ireland final

The All-Ireland final of the Macra na Feirme and Forage Systems' 'Making the Most of your Grass Silage' competition will take place at 1pm today in the Irish Farm Centre.

Six young farmers reached the All-Ireland final, which will consist of a challenging interview on silage production.

From Munster, the finalists are John Murray, Bellinderry, Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary and Matt Ambrose, Cahirbaroule, Macroom, Co Cork.

From Leinster, Philip Brady from Ballinlough, Kells, Co Meath qualified alongside Siobhán Walsh from Loughteague, Stradbally, Co Laois.

Two more lady competitors, Catherine Guiden of Carrowgarry, Enniscrone in Co Sligo and Siobhán Scanlon from Finod, Easkey, Co Sligo, qualified in the North West region.

The six finalists have each won a €65 voucher for Grasstec products and services, while the overall winner will receive a place on the Today FM Ian Dempsey ski trip.

During the season, nutritionists from competition sponsors Forage Systems will keep in touch with the regional winners, helping them to progress and improve their farming practices with the aid of Forage Systems' products.
