Carrick-on-Suir was lit up when its now annual parade of tractors took to the streets this evening.

Thousands of locals thronged the streets of Carrick-on-Suir to see the lights of over 20 tractors, a silage harvester and lorries decked out in Christmas lights drive through the streets.

Organised by local dairy farmer Stuart Downie, the event is now in its third year and money raised will be donated to the farming charity Embrace, which helps families affected by farm fatalities and serious accidents.

Downie, who milks 300 cows near Tybroughney said the charity had impressed him with their work helping farm families and he said the money raised this year would go to that charity.

Thanks to Dolores O'Brien for the footage from Carrick-on-Suir.

It's just one of a number of towns that have organised Christmas tractor parades around the country this year.

Just last weekend farmers in Ballinrobe came into the town with their tractors decked out in festive lights, to raise money for two local causes.
