A farmer in Hertfordshire in southern England was left after a tornado left his field of rowed up straw in a mess.

Police in East Hertfordshire captured footage of the dust devil as they went about their daily duties.

They tweeted "On patrol near Buntingford & we found this straw tornado. We've never seen this before, the farmer is upset as the straw is now in a mess."

Usually harmless, 'Dust Devils' as there commonly called form as a swirling updraft under sunny conditions and rarely come close to the intensity of a tornado.

But on rare occasions grow large enough to pose a threat to both people and property.
