Woman (67) dies after being pucked by cow in farm tragedy
A 67-year-old pensioner from Co Armagh has died tragically following a farm accident involving a cow.
Thelma Gorman was killed while leading cows out at her farm in the Drumhirk area, outside of Armagh city.
Speaking about Mrs Gorman, local DUP MLA William Irwin said that her passion was the breeding of pedigree Simmental cattle.
"The lady in question was working with animals all her life," he said.
"My thoughts and prayers are with her husband and the entire family circle."
Ulster Unionist councillor Jim Speers also expressed sympathy to Mrs Gorman's family.
"I knew Thelma Gorman and her family well. This is an absolute tragedy. Only last year she won the Unsung Hero Award at the Farming Life and Danske Bank Awards in Belfast which reflected Thelma's dedication to the community and her caring nature," he said.
"She was a long time stalwart of the Armagh Show and it wouldn't be what it is today without her help and guidance. Thelma and her husband Peter also provided valuable respite care for children with learning disabilities.
