Hundreds of thousands in damage as fire rips though agri contractors shed

A massive fire which engulfed the sheds of an agricultural contractor caused damage estimated at several hundred of thousands of euro.

Gardai in Castlerea and fire brigade attended a at fire Mullen Frenchpark on the Sunday, October 29 at approximately 1am. 

It is understood the fire broke out shortly after midnight at sheds on the premises of an agricultural contractor.

Fire services from local towns battled the blaze through the night.

Gardai have confirmed a shed and a number of agricultural equipment, tractors etc were damaged in the fire.

It is also understood a man who was injured trying to save machinery from the blaze was treated for burns and smoke inhalation.

It is believed up to five tractors, and a host of valuable machinery including a baler were destroyed in the blaze.

Garda at this stage do not believe it to be suspicious.
