An expensive horse has been stolen in a raid on a farmyard in Meath in recent days.

Trim Garda are investigating a burglary at a farmyard in Moynalvey on last Sunday night and Monday morning.

Gardai have said that it was possible that the suspects used a jeep or may have had two vehicles.

A substantial number of expensive tools were taken, Gardai said a frequent target for thieves in such raids.

However, Gardai said that more importantly in this burglary a ‘valuable’ horse was also taken.

Gardai have described it as a  valuable bay mare with a white star on her head, one white sock on the off fore, a 10-year-old thoroughbred, heavily in foal at the moment.

Anyone who can help to identify the suspects or be in a position to help recover the mare is being asked to call Trim Garda Station on 046-9431222 or the Garda confidential line 1800666111
