Royal holding would make for a cracking hobby farm

A derelict cottage on 24ac at Portan, Kilmer, Ballivor, Co Meath, could have great potential as a small hobby farm. The holding will be sold at auction in two lots by auctioneer Thomas Potterton and comes with a guide of €7,000 to €8,000/ac.

Located two miles from Ballivor and seven miles from Kinnegad, the land, which is all in grass, is laid out in five fields. The derelict stone house was once the home of the late Andy Elliott, an equestrian expert and one-time Lord Mayor of Ballivor.

The sale takes place at the Property Exchange, Trim, on September 11. On the same day, Thomas Potterton will also offer a 6ac parcel of ground at Stonestown, Co Westmeath, three miles from Delvin, on the Athboy road. The property comes to the market with a guide of €7,000 to €8,000/ac.
