A house and 40.7ac at Drummond, Hill of Down, near Enfield, Co Meath was withdrawn from auction at the Glenroyal Hotel, Maynooth, last week.

Phillip Byrne of selling agents Coonan's Maynooth explained that the house on 0.7ac was offered in one lot, while 40ac with good road frontage, a haybarn and sheds formed a second portion.

Bidding on the house, a three-bedroom bungalow in need of refurbishment, opened at €50,000. Three bidders progressed matters and the offers climbed in bids of €5,000 until the property was withdrawn at €75,000 with two bidders remaining.

The second lot opened at €200,000. Three bidders entered the fray and in bids of €10,000 the auction continued apace until it reached the €220,000 mark. At that point one of the bidders withdrew and bids of €5,000 brought the price on offer to €230,000 when the lot was withdrawn.

According to Phillip Byrne, active negotiations are in progress in relation to the two lots. Mr Byrne is relatively content with the price saying it is in line with what is being paid for property in the area.
