Roscommon 69 acres makes €495,000 under the hammer

Lands at Dundonnell, Taughmaconnell, Ballinasloe, Co Roscommon, sold under the hammer recently for €495,000.

The first lot comprised 32.78ac and was described as good land divided into several paddocks with some road frontage. It sold for €290,000.

The second lot comprised 36.18ac of mixed land with a two-bay hay shed and included 11 twenty-fifths of undivided commonage comprising 29.54ac. Some of this land is described as very wet, callow, marginal land. Bidding opened at €120,000 and increased in increments of €5,000 until it reached €205,000 and was sold.

Meanwhile, a 32ac residential farm at Herbertstown, Crossakiel, Co Meath was withdrawn at auction at €240,000 and sold immediately after to a local farmer for a substantially higher price.

The sale had been guided by auctioneer Raymond Potterton at €250,000.

The farm is laid out in nice sized fields with extensive road frontage and frontage on to the Stoneyford River that bounds the property.

The ground is high and self-draining, well kept, well fenced and in great order. The house is a neat, three bedroom bungalow. The yard contains a haybarn and a range of useful sheds and farm buildings.
