The Government policy on renewable crops has been lambasted despite the recent announcement of the Bio-Energy (Willow) Scheme 2015.

The scheme delivers a once-off capital grant of up to 40pc of the establishment cost of willow up to a maximum of €1,040/ha. The grant-aid will be paid to cover ground preparation, seed purchase and planting.
