Rare big block of grassland on offer

Given that large blocks of land are a rarity when it comes to land sales in south Kilkenny, the auction of an 82ac holding in Goresbridge later this month is certain to attract a lot of interest.

The land is all in grass and laid out in four well-fenced fields, with about 300m of road frontage and river frontage onto the Barrow. About 20ac are part of a flood plain and are liable to some flooding in winter.

There is access to a ready water supply, while a hardcore roadway services about 50pc of the land.

The property includes a concrete farmyard, with a three-span haybarn, a lean-to and cattle handling facilities.

Auctioneer Ed Donohoe, of ERA Donohoe Properties, Kilkenny, describes the land as super quality agricultural ground with the added advantage of a vein of sand running through it.

The property will be auctioned at the Astoria, Bagenalstown, on Thursday, October 27. A guide price of €8,000-10,000/ac is being quoted.

Also for sale by Donohoe Properties is a 29ac holding at Kilgreaney, Ballinkillen, Co Carlow, just one mile off the Bagenalstown to Borris Road.

The property is for sale by private treaty and can be bought in one or two lots.
