Rahara holding with 77ac of good land sells to a local farmer for €725,000

In one of the last auctions of 2011, Roscommon auctioneer John Earley sold a 77ac non-residential holding for €725,000, or close to €9,500/ac.

The farm, located at Lackin, Rahara, halfway between Roscommon and Athlone, is described as good ground laid out in 10 paddocks that are divided by traditional stone walls and wire fencing. The holding enjoys up to a half mile of road frontage onto two roads.

A big crowd attended the auction at the Central Bar, Roscommon, on December 16. Bidding opened at €500,000. Matters moved swiftly and the property went on the market at €560,000. However, proceedings slowed somewhat and, following a marathon session that included 33 bids, the property was sold for €725,000.

The Roscommon auction season for this year kicks off before the end of the month with a sale on Friday, January 20. The auction includes the sale of 22ac located at Ballydooley (Lissanisky), Donamon, Co Roscommon.

The holding is set out in one lot and has extensive road frontage onto the main Oran/Donamon road and Oran/Clooneycolgan road. This parcel is being guided at €175,000, or €8,000/ac.

At the same auction, a 14.15ac piece of land located at Carnalasson, Fourmilehouse, Co Roscommon, will also be offered for sale.

This non-residential roadside holding is one lot located off the main Roscommon/Tulsk road and convenient to Fourmilehouse. The guide price is €100,000, or €7,000/ac.
