'Powerful' Limerick farm for €600,000
A parcel of 60ac of land near the town of Hospital in east Limerick is on the private treaty market with a guide price of €600,000.
Located 2.5km from Hospital on the Emly road the holding is described by auctioneer DJ Hayes as excellent high quality land with a substantial farmyard that contains a derelict residence.
The yard is home to a 3,000sqft machinery shed, a cattle crush, two hay-barns, a slatted shed and a range of other farm sheds, some of which are in good condition and others in need of repair having suffered some storm damage.
The land is described by Mr Hayes as top class ground that could do with some fertilising and some reseeding. "In its day it was a very productive dairy farm and would be highly regarded in the locality," he said.
Laid out in six fields the land is well bounded on the external boundary by strong hedgerow while the fields are fenced with electric fencing and hedgerow. A farm road services all the fields while well-water is piped to every division.
The property can be bought in two lots or as an entire with an 18.7ac parcel with double frontage laid out in one field making up the first lot. The remainder made up of 41.8ac in five fields includes the yard and the derelict residence. The presence of the latter might be of assistance should the new owner wish to apply for planning permission.
"This is a powerful farm of ground," said Mr Hayes. "It is there to be sold and most certainly one of the lots will be sold in the near future but the entire will be bought eventually. The owner is retiring from farming and wants to move on."
The place is guided at €600,000 and Mr Hayes says it is under offer at the moment.
