Carlow firm Tanco Autowrap is celebrating 50 years in business and is now exporting to 35 countries around the world. It will launch three new products at this week's Ploughing Championship.

Farmers are constantly looking for a complete solution to reduce costs and maximise productivity in winter feeding. To this end, Tanco claims its new I75 Multi Shear will be a revolutionary concept. According to Adrian Lyons, marketing manager with Tanco, two traditionally separate jobs – feeding baled silage and pit silage – can now be carried out by one machine.

"We have tested this throughout the 2012 feeding season on large-scale farms and are very happy with performance. Our past experience in manufacturing block cutters and shear grabs helped us in integrating this with the bale shear. This machine works as a standard shear grab but also as a standard bale shear. There are no setting changes from bales to pit silage. It weighs 150kg more than the I70 bale shear and can fit both tractors and telehandlers. For pit silage, the pit face is left clean and sealed."

Tanco is also launching a new trailed bale wrapper, the A150, which replaces the popular 580 series wrapper. Two models will be available – the A150J with servo joystick control and the A150EH with fully automatic control. The latter also has the option of a radio remote control kit. A key feature is the stronger and faster loading arm. The machine is lower than the outgoing 580 series for improved centre of gravity, but still has good ground clearance.

Once the turntable tips up fully it comes close to the ground, eliminating the need for a bale ramp as the bale is gently dropped from the turntable directly to the ground. Standard, low ground-pressure wide-gripped tyres should allow it to travel well in all ground conditions. The wheels are mounted nearer to the back of the machine for better balance and stability – this also means more weight is transferred to the tractor for improved balance when unloading bales. The cut and tie system is fully automatic.

Finally, the third machine being launched by Tanco is the new A200 static round bale wrapper. The A200 replaces the 280ARC and is a fully automatic wrapper with radio remote control and bale mat fitted as standard. The A200 has been upgraded with more efficient hydraulics, a feature that will be especially useful for optional power packs.
