Joe Canning: I expect the Kilkenny to win All-Ireland replay

Galway star Joe Canning says he expects Kilkenny to emerge victorious in Saturday's All-Ireland Final replay.

The Tribesmen suffered defeat to both sides during a disappointing 2014 campaign and is backing Brian Cody's team to complete the job this weekend.

"I thought Kilkenny would win the last day and I would probably still go with them," he told Independent.ie.

"They have a little bit more to improve on."

Galway were defeated by the Cats in Leinster after a replay and also succumbed in an All-Ireland Final replay two years ago and Canning believes their resilience will be the difference.

"I think they are very hard beaten in replays as past history has shown so I think they will do it by a couple of points."

Of course you wish you were there (All-Ireland Final day). Every player that plays inter-county wishes he was there. We were lucky enough to be there in 2012 but things didn't go for us.

Speaking at the Ploughing Championships where his family firm had sold out of most of their famous sticks, Canning says business has been good during the week.

“It’s been pretty hectic,” said Joe, revealing they had to open the side of their tented stall yesterday so people could get out safely.

“They come in for a bit of both,” he added, signing hurls and sliotars and taking selfies.

“They come in to try and get chat, especially with the All-Ireland replay at the weekend, everybody wants to come in and get an opinion on who do you think if going to win and stuff like that.

“You try and tell them as much as you can, it’s just for the chat more so than anything, and if they buy a hurl it’s great.”
