Fresh from the success of the Aldi/ABP-sponsored Irish Angus bull calf championship at Iverk Show in August, the Irish Angus Cattle Society is to join forces again with the Irish Angus Producer Group at the Ploughing Championships.

The Irish Angus Exhibition Centre, located at block 3, row LS, stand 5 will feature the Irish Angus Producer Group's processor partners ABP and Kepak in order to highlight their integrated relationship in profitable beef production.

"In the last number of years we have tried to appeal more to the commercial beef producer at the Ploughing," said Irish Angus president and Kilkenny man Joe Moran.

"On most other cattle stands at the Ploughing you will see just pedigree cattle, whereas in the Irish Angus Exhibition Centre you will see both pedigree and commercial Irish Angus cattle. We feel that it is very important to talk to fellow farmers about how they can improve their profitability from a commercial perspective."

The main focus for the Irish Angus Producer Group this year will be making farmers aware of the benefits of signing up to data release from ICBF. Members who complete the data release form for the ICBF at this year's Ploughing will no longer need to book their cattle and will automatically qualify for AAA and off-season bonuses.

"If you are a beef farmer looking to improve your bottom line profitability, a visit to the Irish Angus Exhibition Centre is a must," maintained Mr Moran.
