Hundreds thousands of people are set to descend on Tullamore next week as the 86th National Ploughing Championships gets under way.

A festival like no other, the ploughing celebrates farming and rural life topics which us here at FarmIreland is also passionate about.

In recognition of this FarmIreland and the Farming Independent have a jam packed schedule of events scheduled for visitors to the ploughing.

On top of this FarmIreland’s dedicated ploughing section sponsored by Lidl will feature comprehensive and unique coverage of the event throughout the week.

We will also be providing plenty of thought-provoking interviews and forums in the Irish Independent tent which can be found at - Block No 2, Row No 9 and Stand No 222.

Highlights include:

  • Journalist and radio presenter Paul Williams will host a robust debate on rural crime
  • The topical issues of pre-nups before marriage and succession will be debated by a team of experts and Editor Margaret Donnelly
  • Columnists Robin Talbot, John Fagan and Henry Walsh give their views on Brexit and the farming outlook
  • Peter and Paula Hynes will discuss what it takes to become the Farmer of the Year

For young budding sports fans, there will be an opportunity to listen to some of the top sports players and also to pick up the latest Cúl Heroes cards.

FarmIreland is also running an exclusive competition in which visitors to the ploughing can win a brand new Honda quad worth some almost €7,000. For details click here
