The Belclare Sheep Society returns to the Ploughing Championships with its extra large six-metre display in the sheep tunnel.

The society aims to showcase both pedigree and commercial stock so that sheep farmers can see at first hand the benefits of using a pedigree Belclare ram. The exhibit will feature Belclare crosses with both terminal and hill breeds, as well as pedigree Belclare stock.

Potential new breeders and commercial farmers are invited to meet members of the Belclare society at any stage during the next three days to ask questions about what this breed has to offer on farms.

Belclare sales to date have been boosted by the fact that the vast majority of rams being sold are eligible for the Sheep Technology Adoption Scheme. There are three sales remaining, which will take place at Roscommon Mart on Saturday, September 28, Kilkenny Mart on Monday, September 30, and Carnaross Mart on Tuesday, October 1.

The society also hopes to run a special in-lamb ewe sale in November, but the exact date and venue for this sale has yet to be confirmed.
