People power pivotal in logistics of Golden Shears
A massive team effort goes into the logistics of an international show like the Golden Shears – not least in the transportation of 6,600 sheep from their host farms in north Wexford to the 25-acre championship site in Gorey.
The transportation schedule has to be precise and is overseen by a team of volunteers who will transport the sheep overnight for each day's competition. Once the sheep have been sheared, the volunteers will return the animals to their donating farmers.
The Garda Traffic Corps will play a key role in the operation, but they have warned visitors to expect traffic delays.
