A 40.84ac holding at Killougher, between Balbriggan and the Naul in Co Dublin, was withdrawn from auction last week at €364,000.

Described by auctioneer Sean Doyle of Maynooth as fine arable land, the farm drew interest from four active bidders. The property opened at €320,000 and went up in tranches of €5,000 until it reached €364,000. At that point bidding stopped and the property was withdrawn.

Negotiations with the highest bidder, a local landowner, have been ongoing and Mr Doyle describes the amount dividing the parties as very small.

Meanwhile, a parcel of 18ac at The Hatchet, Dunboyne, Co Meath, withdrawn from auction a number of weeks ago, sold to the highest bidder following negotiations.

The 18ac site was in two divisions of old pasture with limited road frontage.

It reached €140,000 at auction but sold to a local landowner for a higher figure.
