Provisional results from new Teagasc research indicates that methane emissions from dairy cows are “probably overestimated”, a top Teagasc scientist has stated.

In a presentation at a farmer meeting in Tipperary, Dr Laurence Shalloo, head of the Animal and Grassland Research and Innovation Programme, said current methane emission factors included in the national inventories for methane estimations are based on international assumptions.
