Milk imports ruled out of quotas

Milk imports by Irish processors will be disregarded for milk quota calculations, according to a spokesperson for the Department of Agriculture.

"Its end destination beyond the first processor is irrelevant," they said. Instead, the milk is recorded against the milk producer's quota.

"A milk purchaser in Ireland does not have to record these deliveries for milk quota regulations purposes as they are not the first purchaser of the milk. "The milk is recorded purely for statistical purposes by the milk purchaser at the request of the CSO," added the Department spokesperson.
