Milk exports to rise: OECD

Demand from developing countries like India and China will drive higher exports of milk from Europe, the US, New Zealand, Australia and Argentina over the next 10 years, according to a new report from the OECD.

The OECD/FAO Outlook for Agriculture 2013-2022, published on Thursday, predicts that global milk production will continue to increase, albeit at a slower rate in the next decade.

While developing countries are expected to generate 74pc of global milk production gains over the next decade, dairy consumption in those countries is projected to grow faster than production.
