Meath land guided at €10k/ac
The auction season is hotting up and properties of all sizes are coming on the market in the next few weeks, writes Jim O'Brien.
Among them is a 46ac residential farm at Bohermeen on the outskirts of Navan, Co Meath.
The property also includes 16ac located at Herbertsown. The property will be sold as an entire or in lots, with Raymond Potterton Auctioneers guiding the sale at €475,000 or over €10,000/ac.
Located within 10 minutes of Navan and a few minutes from the M3 motorway, the farm comprises pasture, low lying land and top class tillage ground.
The house (pictured above), which is said to be in reasonable condition, is a three-bedroom bungalow with a sitting room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom. It will be offered for sale as part of the entire or with 3ac of land.
The second portion of the farm is a long, narrow 13ac parcel, made up of pasture and softer ground.
This lot includes and old farmyard with a range of dated but useful buildings and an old derelict farmhouse.
A large portion of pasture at the front has quite decent road frontage, while a long narrow strip of grazing ground connects to a portion of Jamestown Bog at the lower end.
A third section is located across the road from the old farmstead. In permanent pasture, this is laid out in four fields and comes with road frontage on to two roads.
The 16ac parcel at Herbertstown is located about 1km from the farmyard and is described by Stephen Barry of Raymond Potterton auctioneers as the best of tillage ground that recently grew a crop of maize.
"From a residential perspective the place is close to Navan and the M3 Motorway, and from an agricultural perspective, it is being offered for sale in manageable divisions that will suit a range of pockets," he said.
The farm will be sold at auction at Raymond Potterton's sales rooms, Navan at 3pm on Thursday, March 26.
