Meath farm breaks the million mark

A 94ac Co Meath farming at Ballymacoll, Dunboyne close to Ballymacoll Stud sold at auction last week making €1.07m or almost €11,400/ac.

Laid out in four fields of old pasture the land is fenced with traditional hedgerow providing excellent shelter. The farm is situated in the heart of good farming and stud country and, according to Phillip Byrne of selling agents Coonans, is suitable for grazing, lifestock or bloodstock.

The holding has a farmyard that includes a seven-column shed and stock handling facilities.

On the day the entire farm attracted three bidders when Coonans of Maynooth opened the bidding after accepting an offer of €800,000.

It quickly moved to €880,000 at which point auctioneer Philip Byrne consulted with the vendors and it was agreed to return to the auction room.
