Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney and rugby stars Sean O'Brien and John Hayes will join hundreds of farmers and their families for a remembrance service this weekend in memory of those who lost their lives on the country's farms.

Last year 30 people, including five children, lost their lives on farms. So far this year, seven people have died.

Brian Rohan and his wife Norma launched the Embrace Farm group after Brian's father Liam was killed in a farm accident in 2012. "We were hoping we would see a major fall-off in farm accidents but unfortunately the death toll continues," said Mr Rohan.

The second Embrace Farm Mass takes place this Sunday at 2pm in the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Abbeyleix, Co Laois.
