Local sees off auction rivals to pay ¤320k for Kildare 32ac

A local farmer outbid two other potential buyers to secure a 32ac non-residential farm at Knavinstown, Co Kildare, last week.

The land, which was laid out in one division, had extensive road frontage and is currently in winter wheat.

It is located approximately 6km from Kildare, Monasterevin and Rathangan. The land had no single farm payment entitlements attached to it.

In front of an attendance of about 30 people, bidding on the property opened at €200,000. Selling agent Clive Kavanagh from Jordan Auctioneers proceeded to handle bids of €10,000 and then €5,000 from three active bidders.

When bidding stalled at €320,000, he consulted with the vendor before placing the farm on the market.

However, there were no further bids and the property was knocked down to the highest bidder, believed to be a local farmer. The price equated to €10,000/ac.
