Limerick holding to hit close to €10k/ac
Land in the Shanagolden and Foynes area of west Limerick has been making a good price at auction and on the private treaty market of late.
It is expected that a 57.5ac residential holding with substantial road frontage near the port of Foynes will make in the region of €10,000/ac when it comes to auction this Friday.
Located off the N69 Limerick to Foynes road, the holding is near Robertstown Church, 2.5 miles from Foynes, 2.5 miles from Shanagolden and 22 miles from Limerick city.
Richard Ryan of selling agents GVM Kilmallock says the two storey house on the property was occupied until last summer and, while structurally sound, needs renovation. The traditional style farmyard includes a three column haybarn, a cow byre and various outbuildings.
The property was farmed by the owner until last year and is in good heart. Of the 57.5ac that make up the holding, a 40ac portion is described by Mr Ryan as the best of grazing ground, while 17.5ac are heavier in nature. The land is in seven easily managed fields and has decent road frontage.
While Mr Ryan is reluctant to name a guide price, he agrees that a guide of €10,000/ac would not be far off the mark.
The farm will be sold at auction at the Courtney Lodge Hotel, Newcastle West at 3pm on Friday.
