Letting land hits €400/ac in midlands

It appears that letting land is getting very scarce as the impact of the longer lettings begins to take effect.

According to Laois auctioneer William Mansfield it is almost impossible to find land for letting and his office is flooded with enquiries, particularly from dairy farmers along with the tillage men.

Prices are reflecting the shortage with between €250 and €270/ac being paid for grazing and fodder ground with prices in some places going up to €300/ac.

The price for carrot and potato ground is climbing as far as €400/ac.
