LEADER 'mishandled'

Minister for the Environment Phil Hogan has been accused of putting €50m in LEADER funding at risk by "mishandling" European funding for rural development.

Fianna Fail spokesperson on Agriculture, éamon ó Cuiv, claimed millions of euro of European funding could be wasted as it would not be drawn down in time.

He accused Minister Hogan of holding back firms that wanted to submit funding applications for community projects, ahead of December's deadline.

"I am urging LEADER companies to seek an immediate meeting with Minister Hogan and insist he facilitates them," said Mr ó Cuiv.
