Latest JCB UTV is handy for farmers
Earlier this year at the SIMA Show in Paris, JCB unveiled its latest addition to its Workmax range of utility vehicles (UTV).
The firm's new model is the JCB Workmax 800D, a diesel engine UTV with four-wheel drive.
The new machine is powered by a 784cc Yanmar diesel engine and, as a diesel, it should be welcome among farm users.
The drive from the engine is directed through a two-speed constantly variable transmission with Kevlar belt, similar to a combine harvester's variable belt drive. Four-wheel drive is selectable, and both it and the differential lock are operated electronically.
Underneath, a steel plate protects vulnerable transmission components in tough off-road conditions.
The engines air intake is also mounted as high as possible inside the front storage compartment to prevent the intake of water into the engine and damaging it when wading.
The total payload or weight the JCB Workmax 800D can carry is 600kg but this, I would guess, is with passengers because the firm quotes a capacity of 400kg for the steel tipping cargo deck.
The 800D's cab has a flat checker plate which gives clear access from either side. Seat options are a bench or individual bucket seats.
