At a packed house in the Tullamore Court a bidder from outside the area bought a 36ac Co Laois residential farm after auction. The property was withdrawn at its guide of €260,000 and sold afterwards for a higher figure.
Located at Castlecuffe, Clonalsee between Mountmellick and Kinnitty, the farm includes a two-bedroom bungalow in need of modernisation, a number of useful outbuildings around the house and a small farmyard with a range of traditional sheds.
The land comprises good grazing ground which is bounds with traditional mature hedgerows.
Auctioneer Raymond Potterton opened the bidding at €210,000 and two bidders remained in contention until it was withdrawn at €260,000.
The farm sold for a higher figure immediately afterwards to the highest bidder who intends to develop the farm as an equestrian property.
