Land prices on the up and up in Kilkenny

The price of Kilkenny land continues to rise, as evidenced by the sale of 23.5ac of land located near Danesfort that sold under the hammer of auctioneer Ed Donohoe last Friday for over €18,300/ac.

Laid out in three fields, the holding is all in grass, with sufficient road frontage for comfortable access.

The property is well watered and fenced.

There was a full house for the auction and bidding opened at a hefty €300,000.

Three customers followed the action until the property went on the market at €380,000.

A further €50,000 was added before the hammer came down at €430,000.

The land was bought by a farmer from the area.

Two weeks ago, Mr Donohoe sold a 20ac parcel at Brownstown, three miles from Kilkenny city.

The property was all in one field and had limited road frontage.

It sold at auction for €200,000 or €10,000/ac.
