July deadline for foaling forms

Foaling forms are now being issued by Horse Sport Ireland for the 2015 breeding season.

Those who have not yet received foaling kits should ensure the covering certificate has been returned to the Irish Horse Register. They must also ensure the correct details are given for mares.

HSI has developed a new online facility for breeders to check if the covering certificate has been returned for their particular mare.

If a covering certificate has been received for last year's covering, the details of this covering will be displayed.

Foals by stallions and mares from recognised sport horse studbooks can now be registered in the ISH Studbook.

All foals must be registered within six months of their birth or before December 31 in the year of their birth, whichever occurs later.

Registering foals in the ISH Studbook ensures that they will be:

* Eligible for a 'green-covered passport';

* Eligible for the ISH Showjumping and Eventing Series;

* Eligible to qualify for WBFSH Young Horse Championships (Lanaken and Le Lion d'Angers);

* Eligible for HSI breeder prizes;

* A discounted foal registration fee applies prior to October 31.

Those who intend sending their foals to the sales in the autumn are being asked to submit their forms before July 31.
