Irish kit demo for british

Bruce Lett

The success of Irish agricultural machinery manufacturers has been recently highlighted by the raft of awards that they have been picking up in various innovation and enterprise competitions.

Recognition of the fact that we have world beaters among us was on display last week, when Enterprise Ireland and the Farm Tractor and Machinery Trade Association (FTMTA) hosted an 'inward buyer event' at the FTMTA's headquarters in Naas, Co Kildare.

A group of over 40 UK farmers and dealers came over to Ireland for the event, along with speakers from the National Farmers Union (NFU), Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers (RABDF) and HSBC bank. Irishman Dr Tomas Norton, a senior lecturer in the engineering department at Harper Adams University, was also among the guests.

Once the speeches had been completed, it was the Irish machinery manufacturers' turn to make a series of short presentations about their companies and products. Each firm also brought a selection of their products for the visitors to examine and discuss.
