Irish farmers to get €12.9m in CAP refund dividend
The European Commission has confirmed €410m is to be returned to farmers from the Common Agricultural Policy.
Irish farmers are to receive €12.9m out of the funds.
The measure arises out of the 2013 CAP reform with an amount taken out of farmers' direct payments to create an agricultural reserve fund. If not used it goes back to farmers.
The support package will come out of the 2016 budget.
Crucially, the monies do not come out of the crisis reserve fund, saving farmers reductions in their Basic Payments.
