Hunt activists plan mass protest

Several thousand hunting supporters are expected to attend a major pro-hunting demonstration in Waterford on Saturday.

The rally has been organised to coincide with the Green Party national conference, which is being held in the city.

Rural Ireland Says Enough (RISE), the organisation behind the demonstration, represents 16 field sports groups and an estimated 300,000 field sports supporters. Hunting supporters will assemble at 11am opposite Dooley's Hotel on the quay and walk from there to the Tower Hotel on the mall at 12 noon. The demonstration will include mounted riders from the Woodstown Harriers and the Ward Union Hunt.
