HSA confirm sixteen farm deaths in 2013
Sixteen people were killed on Irish farms last year, the official figures released yesterday by the Health and Safety Authority (HSA), confirmed.
However, while the figures remain high, the number of on-farm deaths in 2013 was back significantly on the 21 recorded in 2012.
The causes of fatal accidents on farms last year were:
nmachinery -- eight deaths
nfalls from height -- three deaths
ndrowning and gas -- two deaths
nelectrocution -- one death
nlivestock -- one death
