Almost half of all farmers made their single farm payment (SFP) applications online this year, the Department of Agriculture has confirmed.
Some 65,033 of the 132,705 SFP applications made this year were made through iNet, the online application facility.
This is an eight-fold increase since iNet was introduced in 2007.
Of those submitted online, 11,208 used the new online mapping facility, which meant map changes could be made instantly.
Minister for Agriculture, Simon Coveney, said the online system significantly reduced the numbers of errors that could be made and would ultimately lead to faster payments.
