Great result for vendor of 20ac Kinsale holding

A TWENTY-ACRE holding near Kinsale was knocked down to a neighbouring farmer at auction for €265,000.

The purchaser was lucky to outbid a 'plucky under bidder' who stayed in the game until after the holding had exceeded its €250,000 guide price. The property at Ballymacus and Rathmore was part of a 300ac estate and it's understood the farmer buyer bought it to extend an existing holding.

Bidding opened at €180,000 and increased thereafter in increments of €5,000.

Auctioneer Christy Buckley, who handled the sale, said he was very pleased with the result.

Mr Buckley also confirmed the conclusion of the sale of a 62ac non-residential holding at Clogheen, Co Tipperary, which was sold to a farmer from the area for €575,000.

The farm was withdrawn from auction at €440,000 but a sale was later agreed.
