Glanbia asked to amend milk supply scheme
The IFA has called on Glanbia to make further amendments to its seasonality scheme.
Dairy chairman Kevin Kiersey said that Glanbia had not done enough by substituting the milk supplied during the last days of May with the milk supplied during the first days of July for the five-week June milk payment period operated by the processor.
"Suppliers still run the risk of superlevy exposure by attempting to stay within their Glanbia June reference limit," he claimed. "In the light of the comparisons now being made with the more benign Dairygold peak management scheme, I urge Glanbia to review the seasonality scheme and make a greater effort to inform farmers by providing a lead-in period similar to that applied by Dairygold."
