Teagasc forestry show heads for Tullamore

If you think the Tullamore Show is just about cows and tractors, then think again.

One of the unexpected gems you definitely don't want to miss at the show is the Forestry and Sustainable Living stand

Organised by Teagasc's Forestry Development Department, this section is composed of an indoor information marquee and a large outdoor trade stand section.

It will showcase all facets of Ireland's rapidly developing farm forestry and renewable energy sectors. Many organisations and companies will be present this year; ranging from tree nurseries, forestry consultants and companies, state agencies, to firewood processors and other hi-tech machines.

As the private forest industry continues to develop, it contributes more and more to our rural economy.

The opportunities provided by a farm forest enterprise to enhance family farm income particularly through new afforestation, timber sales and wood energy will be highlighted.

There will also be a big emphasis on promoting the Forestry Programme 2014-2020.

Forestry consultants and companies will be on hand to advise farmers and landowners considering forestry or who are at the thinning stage.

There will also be a focus on different types of renewable energy showcasing solar panels, boiler systems and efficient firewood stoves.

With all aspects of the forest industry covered, this is a great opportunity to avail of free, comprehensive and up to date information on forestry and renewable energy.
