Fonterra set to grow in China
New Zealand dairy giant Fonterra is to invest $45m (€31m) in building a third dairy farm in China.
Demand for milk in China is expected to triple over the next 10 years and this latest farm will increase Fonterra's production there to 90m litres a year.
The new farm will be developed on 40.7ha in Yutian County of Tangshan City, and the herd of 3,200 milking cows will produce around 28m litres a year. It will employ 100 people, and construction is expected to finish by the end of next year.
