Farming and development opportunity teed up near Mallow

A 41.6 acre parcel of land located beside Mallow Town in Co Cork is coming to auction with a guide of €6,000/ac.

Situated at Knoppogue, the holding is a short distance from Mallow Golf Club and comes with substantial road frontage.

The property is described by Patrick Convey of the Munster Property Auction as good grazing ground. Laid out in about eight undulating fields with road frontage, the divisions are bounded with traditional hedgerow in a mixture of level fields and some higher ground that might need clearing.

According to Mr Convey, the land is perfectly suitable for farmers seeking to extend their holdings but it also has development potential - given the road frontage and its location on the edge of Mallow.

Property Partners Matt Fallon, in partnership with The Munster Property Auction, are offering the 41.6ac for sale by public auction with a guide of €250,000.

The land is to be sold at the next Munster Property Auction - to be held at 7pm at the Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork on September 29.

Waterford auction A parcel of 8ac of ground at Ballinacourt near Dungarvan, made €24,000/ac at auction in Waterford last week.

According to Eamonn Spratt of REA Spratt Auctioneers, there was strong interest in the probate lands prior to the sale. On the day, a fine local crowd showed up to view and participate in the action.

Bidding opened at €90,000 and after 11 bids, the price had risen to €140,000. With four bidders in action, it took another 38 bids to bring matters to a conclusion - when the holding was knocked down to a local Abbeyside man at €192,000 or €24,000/ac.

Eamon Spratt said: "The level of enquiries received pre the auction process and the number of requests for contracts indicated that the interest was quite lively". He said the strong price confirms the demand for small holdings in the general Dungarvan area.
